To free real estate from a Mortgage. See Partial Release.
Example: Reynolds owns 100 Acres of land that is mortgaged for $10,000. If she pays the $10,000, the land will be released from the lender's Lien on the property.

 
 
Architecture: release of lien

Instrument executed by one supplying labor, materials, or professional services on a project which releases his mechanic’s lien against the project property. Also see mechanic’s lien.
