Islam is the majority religion in Qatar. According to the 2004 census, 77.5% of the population are Muslim, 8.5% are Christian and 14% are "Other".

There are more Sunnites than Shiites in Qatar. Qatar has a Ministry of Islamic Affairs. [1] Islam is the state religion.[2] Islamic instruction is compulsory for Muslims in state-sponsored schools. [3]
Qatar is the only other Wahhabi state in the Arabian Peninsula. The other one is Saudi Arabia.[4]
The Vatican estimates the Catholic minority at 11% of the population of the country.[5] Most of the Catholics are Philippine immigrants.[5] Orthodox churches are among the churches that have been recognised.[6]
