René Bary

Bary, René (fl. 1640-80). The ‘rhéteur des précieuses’ [see Preciosity], author of a Rhétorique française (1653), of works on philosophy for the ladies, and of model conversations and speeches. He was a mediocre writer, but his work helped to establish the polite culture of his day.
