René de Lucinge

Lucinge, René de (1554-c.1615). Savoyard diplomat, ambassador to the court of Henri III, of which he left interesting memoirs. His major work, De la naissance, durée et chute des états (1588), is a Machiavellian account of political change, based on history and on observation of the Ottoman empire, whose downfall he optimistically predicts.
