Rene Tongson is a Filipino martial artist and is one of the two most senior masters of the International Modern Arnis Federation, Philippines (IMAFP).
He is a member of the Modern Arnis Senior Masters Council and one of a handful of Modern Arnis practitioners worldwide to be promoted to Lakan Walo (8th degree black belt) by the Remy Presas.
Rene is the inheritor of Mateo D. Estolloso’s Abaniko Tres Puntas style. As a traditionalist, Rene is known for his fluidity and grace in classical arnis. His students include Ernest Dulay, Dieter Knüttel, Edessa Ramos, Angelo Baldissone, and many other arnis teachers in the Philippines and other parts of the world.
