repertoire, repertory

These are essentially the same word, being the French and English equivalents of Latin repertorium meaning 'an inventory or catalogue'. A repertoire is a stock of dramatic or musical pieces which a player or company regularly performs; repertory also has this meaning and in addition denotes a type of theatre involving regular changes in the choice of plays performed during a season. In this meaning it is often used attributively, as in repertory theatre, repertory actor, etc., and is common in the shortened form rep.
