Review

Long before Janet Reno became the U.S. Attorney General under Bill Clinton, she was the heroine of rapper Anquette, who draws on Reno's crusading efforts as inspiration for her 1989 debut LP Respect; on the song "Janet Reno," Anquette celebrates the attorney's prosecution of men charged with delinquent alimony payments. The cut is one of Respect's few inspired moments, however; by and large, the homespun beats are repetitive and Anquette's rhymes, though earnest, lack pizzazz. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
