Caesar von Arx
Arx, Caesar von (Basel, 1895-1949, Nieder-Erlinsbach nr. Aarau), became a professional theatrical producer, successively in Basel, Leipzig (1919-23), and Zurich (1923-5). After 1925 he lived in the village of Erlinsbach, devoting his time to the writing of plays. These include festival plays (Festspiele) for Solothurn (1922), Lucerne (1928), the Bernese Oberland (1926), and the Swiss Confederation (1941), and the plays Die Geschichte vom General Johann August Suter (1929), Der Verrat von Novara (1934), Das Drama vom verlorenen Sohn (1934; an adaptation of a play by H. Salat, 1535), Der heilige Held (1936, on Nikolaus von der Flüe), Brüder in Christo (1947), and the comedy Vogel, friß oder stirb (1932). He befriended G.
