REV disk

(REVolutionary disk) A high-capacity removable disk drive for PCs and Macs from Iomega. Introduced in 2004 with a 35GB native capacity, later increased to 70GB, REV drives are available for USB, FireWire, IDE, Serial ATA and SCSI. Various disk libraries are available that provide up to 700GB of storage.

Each REV disk cartridge contains its own motor, which eliminates the dust that can enter a spindle hole in a regular cartridge. The disk platters are further sealed with shutters on the cartridge and drive and an air filtration system. The disk's estimated shelf life is 30 years.

One Disk or Ten
