Revolutionary hymn
A general term for music sung to embody the idea of revolution. A substantial repertory of such music was sung at festivals and on other occasions in France c1790-1800. It includes La marseillaise, numerous songs by Gossec and more ambitious pieces by Méhul, Cherubini and others.
