abbr. for Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor; a protein that enhances the exchange of GDP for GTP in a Rho protein and contains a GEF domain (≈200 amino acids) followed by a pleckstrin homology domain. FGD1 protein is a RhoGEF for Cdc42.
