ribose supplementation

Sports Science and Medicine:

ribose supplementation

The act of taking ribose in addition to that consumed as part of the normal diet. Because of its role in ATP resynthesis, manufacturers of the supplement claim that the extra ribose helps maintain optimal ATP levels and increase muscle power, and will benefit weightlifters, sprinters, and other athletes who require sudden bursts of high-energy. More peer-reviewed research is required to determine whether this claim is correct.
