Ricardo Almeida (born November 29, 1976) is a mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) grappler from Hamilton, New Jersey. He one of the the first American black belts in BJJ under Renzo Gracie. In mixed martial arts, Almeida is known as a former middleweight contestant of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a veteran of the PRIDE Fighting Championships, and a former Middleweight King of Pancrase.
Ricardo Almeida retired for a 3-year period, but is now returning to the middleweight MMA scene. On October 12, 2007, Ricardo "Cachorrao" Almeida will be fighting Dennis "Superman" Hallman in a Cage Fury Fighting Championship middleweight fight at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Almeida runs his own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy located in Hamilton, New Jersey. [2]
