Ricardo Viñes
(b Lérida, 1875; d Barcelona, 1943). Sp. pianist. Champion of contemp. composers, being among first pianists to play works of Debussy, Ravel, and others. Introduced much Russ. pf. music to France (incl. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition). In 1936 gave f.ps. of works by Messiaen.
