Riccardo Nielsen

(b Bologna, 3 March 1908; d Ferrara, 30 Jan 1982). Italian composer. He was a pupil of Gatti and later director of the Ferrara Conservatory. His works were at first in a style akin to Casella's and Stravinsky's but in the 1940s he adopted 12-note procedures (e.g. in the monodrama L′incubo, 1948).
