Italian family of artists. (1) Sebastiano Ricci is remembered for his decorative paintings, which mark the transition between the late Baroque of Luca Giordano and Francesco Solimena and the development of the Rococo style. He often collaborated with his nephew (2) Marco Ricci, son of the landscape painter and engraver Girolamo Ricci. JOSEPH SMITH formed a vast collection of paintings and drawings by Sebastiano and Marco that was acquired by George III and remains largely in the British Royal Collection.
