Rich Fields is a native of the Cleveland, Ohio area (born November 30, 1960, in Bay Village, Ohio) and is an Emmy-award-winning broadcaster and meteorologist best known for being the announcer of the American television game show The Price Is Right.
Fields was raised west of Cleveland in Avon, Ohio, before moving to Clearwater, Florida, in 1976. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1983 with a degree in broadcasting and had a 25 year career as a radio personality, including a ten-year stint in Tampa, Florida, and another ten-year stay at KCBS-FM in Los Angeles. He also worked as a show host and announcer for several years at Universal Studios in Hollywood. Fields is a well-known voice-over talent and has done hundreds of television and radio commercials. In 1995, Fields became the announcer for the Florida Lottery's Flamingo Fortune television game show and held that position for three seasons.

In March of 2004 Rich auditioned for the announcing role on The Price Is Right that was vacated by the death of Rod Roddy. He was named the show's permanent announcer on April 4, 2004 and host Bob Barker introduced him to the show's viewers on the April 27 episode. Fields has stated that one of the inspirations to his broadcasting career came from listening to original TPIR announcer Johnny Olson.
In 2006, Fields appeared in the FOX sitcom The War at Home as an energetic game show host and was called to do voice-over on the ABC comedy According to Jim. In 2007, Rich appeared as himself on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother with legendary show host Bob Barker.
In addition to appearing on both the daytime and primetime versions of TPIR, Fields has also made appearances on other television shows, including Gameshow Marathon, Extra, Inside Edition, The Insider, the CBS Evening News, The Tyra Banks Show, The Late Late Show, the 2007 Daytime Emmy Awards, and many others. Fields also co-hosted Santa Salutes the Stars, the 2006 Orlando Christmas parade, with Alan Thicke and Patrika Darbo. The parade aired nationally on Superstation WGN.
