Rich Scanlon (born December 23, 1980 in Orangeburg, New York) is an American football player who currently plays linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was a stand out player at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, where he was named the New Jersey Defensive Player of the Year by the The Star-Ledger (Newark, New Jersey) in 1998.
He appeared in 43 games (27 starts) for Syracuse University and recorded 277 tackles, 4 sacks, two INTs, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and eight passes defensed. He was picked up as a free agent by the Chiefs in 2004, and played for Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe.
Prior to signing with the Chiefs, Scanlon graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Exercise Science, with an eye toward attending medical school.
September 1, 2007 Rich Scanlon was released from Kansas City at the end of training camp.
