Biography

Richard Angst was a noted German lighting director most notable for his work on Dr. Arnold Franck's German Mountain Films. Angst was born the son of a city planner in Zurich Switzerland. He began working as a lab assistant for a film studio when he was 18, and by 1927 had joined Franck's famous team. By the 1930s he was traveling all over the world with the famous geologist and filmmaker. Later he continued working as a cinematographer for German and, occasionally, U.S. films up through the late 1960s. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
