Biography

The notion of a Christian jazz ensemble may perhaps put the lie to the traditional belief that the genre is nothing more than "the devil's music." Trombonist Richard Collins was a member of the Texas Christian University Jazz Ensemble in 2002, performing and recording with special guest artist trumpeter Conte Candoli. Speaking of hot shot trumpet soloists from the west coast, the young trombonist should not be confused with Los Angeles trumpeter Dick Collins, who performed on many recording sessions in the '50s and '60s. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
