Richard Kristian Rama Gutierrez, popularly known as Richard Gutierrez (born January 21, 1984 in Beverly Hills, California), is a Filipino film and television actor, and commercial model.

Biography

Gutierrez is part of the "Gutierrez Clan" in the Philippine entertainment industry. He is the son of acting legend and former matinee idol Eddie Gutierrez and former actress turned talent manager Annabelle Rama. His sister, Ruffa Gutierrez, is an actress and a Miss World runner-up, and his identical twin brother Raymond Gutierrez is a successful television host. He is also brother of Rocky (2nd), Elvis (3rd) and Ritchie Paul (youngest). His half-brothers, Tonton Gutierrez and Ramon Christopher Gutierrez, are also notable actors in the 80's.

Career

Gutierrez began acting as a child with his twin brother Raymond Gutierrez. He has worked in many movies with his famous father and his brothers. Richard Guttierez first show in GMA-7 is Click where he was paired up with a Kapuso Star Chynna Ortaleza.

Gutierrez gained nationwide popularity through the TV fantasy series Mulawin which aired from August 2, 2004 until March 18, 2005, where he was paired with Angel Locsin. He played the lead character Aguiluz. The series' success spawned a feature-length film of the same name(Mulawin: The Movie). Since then, Guiterrez has played the lead roles in other GMA-7 shows including Sugo, Codename: Asero, Zorro, Lupin and Captain Barbell.

Personal Life

He dated actress Anne Curtis in their teen years and also dated model Georgina Wilson.

Aside from acting Richard has also been an active supporter of Greenpeace Southeast Asia, lending his image in an effort to promote energy efficiency. He narrated the Global Warming documentary "Signos" and also appeared in a special called "Full Force of Nature". ^[1]

Richard filed a P25 million lawsuit against PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) for posting an article about him and Michael Flores at Direk Mark Reyes birthday party April 2009. The article says that him and Michael fought and there was a gun involved in the fight. PEP posted the article without investigating at the incident closely and had the article removed from the website.

On May 22, 2009, Gutierrez was involved in a car accident in Silang, Cavite which left his personal assistant, Nomar Pardo, dead. Guiterrez, who was behind the wheel, sustained minor injuries. The family of the deceased has since filed suit against Gutierrez for "reckless imprudence resulting to homicide".

During the floods of Typhoon Ondoy (International Name Ketsana) on September 2009, Richard claimed to have saved actress (and co-star) Cristine Reyes who was stranded for 14 hours on her roof with her family in Marikina City. In an interview on September 27 ^[2][3] he gave a detailed account of how he borrowed a friend's speedboat to brave the high floods and personally saved Cristine, whose other family members had already been rescued previously by a friend of her sister, Ara Mina.
