Richard Hall

(b York, 16 Sept 1903; d Horsham, 24 May 1982). English composer. He studied at Cambridge and taught at the Royal Manchester College (1938-56), where his pupils included Birtwistle, Davies and Goehr. His works, including five symphonies (1941-64) and two string quartets, blend Hindemith and Schoenberg into a lyrical English style.
