Oct 1, 1930. Born at Limerick, Ireland, Richard Harris became known as a stage actor on the London theater scene in the 1950s. Although his first love was the stage, it was in films that he earned his highest degree of success. He was unforgettable as King Arthur in the film version of Camelot (1967) and was twice nominated for Best Actor Oscars: for 1963’s This Sporting Life and 1991’s The Field. He portrayed headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films in 2001 and 2002. He died Oct 25, 2002, at London, England.
