| 1894 | Songs of Vagabondia. Hovey collaborates with Canadian writer Bliss Carman (1861-1929) on this popular volume of verses celebrating the joys of the tavern, nature, comrades, and the open road. Two sequels would follow: More Songs from Vagabondia (1896) and Last Songs from Vagabondia (1901). |
| 1898 | Along the Trail. Hovey publishes patriotic verses in support of the Spanish-American War, such as "Unmanifest Destiny" and "The Word of the Lord from Havana," as well as the longer poem "Spring." |
