Richard Hugh Lynch (born February 12, 1936[1] or 1940) is an American actor who has starred in many films and television shows. Lynch is remembered for playing villains in films and television. He has often played roles in science fiction productions, including appearing on Battlestar Galactica (as Wolfe) and its sequel series Galactica 1980 (as Commander Xavier). He has also appeared on such shows as Starsky and Hutch, T. J. Hooker, Charmed and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Born Richard Hugh Lynch on February 12, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, he later served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961.

His distinct scarred appearance then made him a popular nemesis, in over 100 film/TV performances, since his film debut in 1973. Usually cast in feature films as the 'heavy', as in the 1973's Scarecrow, and The Seven-Ups, 1988's Bad Dreams, and Little Nikita, and many in between. Lynch won a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as the evil King Cromwell, in 1982 for The Sword and the Sorcerer.[2]
In addition to acting, he is also a musician, playing the saxophone, guitar, piano, and the flute. He is of Irish descent and is a frequent visitor to Ireland. His brother Barry Lynch is also an actor. They both starred in the films Nightforce and Total Force. Richard's wife Lily, starred with him in the 1998 film Breaking the Silence and son Christopher Lynch starred with him in the science fiction film Trancers II.
Through the years, Lynch has worked with old friend and colleague Don Calfa, in films Necronomicon (1993), Toughguy (1995), Corpses Are Forever (2003), and very recently in the William James Kennedy comedy film, Lewisburg (2009).
Although Richard Lynch is best known for playing villains, he was cast as the President of the United States in the 2007 film Mil Mascaras vs. the Aztec Mummy.[3][4]
