Richard Merrill Cohen (born February 14, 1948; Connecticut)[1] is an American journalist and television producer. He is a former senior producer for CBS News and CNN.

Career

Cohen is a three-time Emmy-award winning CBS News journalist.[2][3]

He is a former senior producer for CBS News and CNN. Cohen is the recipient of numerous honors in journalism. He occasionally writes columns for the "Health and Fitness" section of the New York Times.

Cohen has had multiple sclerosis since he was 25 years old, and has had two bouts of colon cancer, one in 1999 and one in 2000.[4]

Biography

Cohen was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1973. His condition worsened over 30 years. During that time Cohen was also struck with two bouts of colon cancer in 1999 and 2000. He has written an autobiographical account titled, Blindsided: Lifting a Life Above Illness: A Reluctant Memoir.[5]

Cohen married television personality Meredith Vieira (co-anchor of NBC's Today Show) on June 14, 1986. They live in Westchester County, New York. They have three children.
