Rick Davies (born Richard Davies, 22 July 1944, Eastcott Hill, Swindon, Wiltshire, England) is an English-American musician, who is a co-founder and a member of the rock band Supertramp.
He played keyboards, harmonica and melodica on the band’s many hit records. Although not recognized for a very distinctive voice (Davies' voice is more of a raspy, bluesy tenor, as opposed to Roger Hodgson's reedy Jon Anderson/Barry Gibb-like alto-range vocals), he has composed and sung many[weasel words] of Supertramp's most popular songs, like the U.S. Top 20 hit "Goodbye Stranger", "From Now On", "Bloody Well Right", "Ain't Nobody But Me", the U.S. Top 40 hit "My Kind of Lady" ,"Cannonball", which hit #28 in 1985 and "I'm Beggin' You" which was the last hit single by Supertramp reaching #1 on the US dance chart in 1987.
Davies currently owns a company, called 'Rick Davies Productions', which is the copyright holder of Supertramp's recordings and name.
His wife Sue, whom he married in 1977, has been Supertramp's manager since 1984.
After living in the United States of America for more than three decades, Davies has recently become a U.S. citizen.
