Lyrical Meaning

In the song, the singer talks about murdering someone, then skinning them and wearing it as a suit. Debates about the meaning of these psychotic lyrics state that the lyrics are based on Tobe Hooper's 1974 film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, however, other sources state that the lyrics are based on Chainsaw's main influence, Ed Gein. There is also an emotional interpretation of the lyrics, saying that the singer is talking about killing his old personality and creating a new one, but the old personality will still haunt him. However people interpret the lyrics is up to them.

The Lyrics

Hiding in the shadows I'll be waiting in the dark To drive this blade staight through your heart

I'll drag your body to the car As blood races down my arms I think everyone will wonder where you are tonight

(Chorus) I'll hide you in my walls Your body will never be found I'll wear your skin as a suit Pretend to be you Your friends will like you more than they used to

Dear diary My teen angst bullshit has a body count(count) I believe it's six going on seven now(seven now)

I've been dreaming about you In a pool of your own blood With your eyes gouged out By the work of my thumbs The scent of your insides From under the floorboards The perfect perfume For settling a score

I'll hide you in my walls Your body will never be found I'll wear your skin as a suit Pretend to be you Your friends will like you more than they used to Pretend to be you Your friends will like you more than they used to

Ride the wings of... Ride the wings of... Ride the wings of... Pestilence!! Ride the wings of Pestilence!! Ride the wings of Pestilence!! Ride the wings of Pestilence!!

Music video

The music video for the song takes place in a Mexican setting. It features the band playing in a desert like setting that appears to be a part of a settlement. The video's main character is a man who at the opening wakes up sweating and then wanders around the town, occasionally meeting the unfriendly gaze of its other inhabitants. Amongst these scenes are several short shots of a woman dressed in white, swinging violently in a church (the footage is run backwards), or (blurred) walking through empty streets and forming crucifix shapes with her body. The man makes his way to a church and attempts to confess his sins (it is made apparent that he has murdered this woman, by shots of the woman being submerged in blood) unsuccessfully. The man then collapses in the street after seeing what he thinks is the woman he has killed, but it is then revealed that it is the Day of the Dead and a large parade head to a cemetery, carrying a crucifix with a doll of the lady nailed to it, to have a night festival. The video ends with the man in his bed, as he was at the beginning of the video, when a pool of blood seeps from his nose and into his mattress.

In the clip the band are seen to be using Mesa Boogie guitar and bass cabinets in conjunction with one Orange amplifier head and one Bogner. The guitars appear to be ESP made apart from one Gibson. No bass amplifier is visible.
