Review

In this installment of France's Rigoler series, the focus is on vocoder-heavy dance hits, very much along the lines of the opening cut, the Cher-like clubby reworking of Alphaville's "Big in Japan." It's all very silly, but not necessarily awful. E-Type's "When I Close My Eyes" rides along with more life and spirit than most in trance-pop; Germany's ATC manage to sound low-key and serious with the stupid "I'm in Heaven"; Prezioso's "Bonjour" is an unusual bastardization of the Vengaboys and Basement Jaxx; and the glary disco makeover of Modern Talking's "New York City Girl" is enjoyably uncalled for. ~ Dean Carlson, Rovi
