Risdon is a suburb of Hobart, capital city of Tasmania, Australia. It is west of Risdon Vale. Eucalyptus risdonii is native to this location, and is the emblem of Geilston Bay High School.

In 1803 Van Diemans Land was claimed by the British and the first Convict Settlement was at Rise-down and later called Risdon and in 1804 the Settlement moved to a new site across the Derwent River they called Hobart Town after Lord Hobart in England.
