Rivered

When a player's hand is beaten because the river card improves or completes an opponents hand.

SoundPoker Says: Players on a draw will commonly call to the river in an attempt to complete their hand.

This term is often used to describe bad beat stories.

For example, assume you hold pocket aces (A - A), an opponent holds pocket sixes (6 - 6), and the board currently shows A-10-9-8. You currently have the nuts with trip aces, but you would be rivered and lose the hand if a 7 hit the board as the 5th community card since it would complete a straight for your opponent
