The Riverfront Times (also known as the RFT) is an alternative newsweekly in St. Louis, Missouri that consists of local politics, music, arts and dining news in the print edition and daily updates to blogs and photo galleries on its Web site. The paper and Web site also feature a weekly syndicated column by sex advice writer Dan Savage.
As of June 2008, Riverfront Times has an ABC-audited weekly circulation of 81,276 copies.[1]
History
The paper was founded in 1977 by Ray Hartmann who sold the newspaper in 1998 to New Times Media[2] (now known, following a 2006 merger, as Village Voice Media).
The paper has received considerable recognition and claims more than three dozen awards from the Missouri Press Association,[citation needed] along with the group's Gold Cup.[citation needed] It is widely distributed at various locations around the St. Louis area.
