It was sad when that great ship went down. RMS Titanic has sole salvage rights, subject to a federal judge's annual review, to the doomed ship that struck an iceberg and sank in 1912. In seven expeditions (conducted in 1987, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2004) to the Titanic wreck site, which lies in the Atlantic ocean about 400 miles off the southern coast of Newfoundland, RMS has recovered some 5,500 artifacts. The company operates seven Titanic exhibitions, six of which are known as Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and one of which is known as Titanic Science. It earns its money through ticket sales, third party licensing, sponsorship, and merchandise sales. RMS is owned by Premier Exhibitions.
