Roadhouse: The Voice of Eddie & the Cruisers

Album Review: Roadhouse: The Voice of Eddie & the Cruisers

Review

Released in 1988, after Eddie & the Cruisers had faded away from public consciousness, Roadhouse repeated the formula John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band established on the Eddie soundtrack -- a simple, three-chord rock & roll in the vein of Bruce Springsteen. In terms of quality, Roadhouse wasn't much worse than Tough All Over, yet the band's moment had passed and the album failed to chart. After its release, the group returned to recording under the name Eddie & the Cruisers. [The album was re-released in 1993 under the title Roadhouse: The Voice of Eddie & the Cruisers with a different cover but the same track listing.] ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
