Robert Crause Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell (born 15 October 1936) is the son of Carine Crause-Boardman and Peter Baden-Powell, 2nd Baron Baden-Powell,[1] the nephew of Betty Clay, the grandson of Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell and Olave Baden-Powell, the great-nephew of Agnes Baden-Powell, Baden Baden-Powell George Baden-Powell, and Warington Baden-Powell, and the great-grandson of Baden Powell.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa,[2] he was educated at Bryanston School. He served as an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy.
On the death of his father in 1962, he succeeded to the barony. He married Patience Hélène Mary Batty on 1 August 1963.[3] Lady Baden-Powell became Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides and Vice-president of the Girl Guides Association. She died on 18 December 2010 in Farnham, Surrey of Motor neurone disease.[4] As the couple had no children, his brother Michael Baden-Powell is heir presumptive to the barony.[1]
Baden-Powell was Chief Scout Commissioner from 1965 to 1982, when he became Vice-president of The Scout Association. The British contingent to the 1975 14th World Scout Jamboree at Lillehammer, Norway was led by Baden-Powell. It included Scouts from Bermuda, Hong Kong, and Rhodesia.
