(b Chicago, 2 July 1906; d Delray Beach, fl, 26 Dec 1974). American composer. He was a pupil of Respighi, Bustini and Dobici in Rome, and of de Lioncourt and Braud in Paris. He worked in the USA as a conductor and teacher (notably at Brooklyn College, 1947-72), and wrote notably for brass in a neo-classical, dissonant style.
