(b 25 Dec 1756; d London, ?before 1788). English engraver. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in London as an engraver on 31 May 1777. He was a pupil of the stipple engraver Francesco Bartolozzi, whose portrait by Joshua Reynolds he engraved in 1784; he probably remained in Bartolozzi's employ. Nearly all his signed stipple prints were of allegorical or fancy pictures, notably after William Hamilton and Angelica Kauffman. Marcuard probably died very young, as the latest of his prints is dated 1786, and in 1788 a sale of the drawings of Robert Marcuard of North End, Hammersmith (Bartolozzi's address) was advertised.
