(1947–75; b. Edinburgh, Scotland; d. North Wales) Scottish statistician. Wedderburn was a graduate of Cambridge U. On graduation he joined the staff at Rothamsted where he collaborated with Nelder on the influential 1972 paper that unified the treatment of generalized linear models. By the time of his early death (from anaphylactic shock following an insect bite) he had made valuable contributions to the GENSTAT and GLIM statistical packages.
