Robin egg blue, also called eggshell blue, approximates the shade of the eggs laid by the American Robin.
The first recorded use of robin egg blue as a color name in English was in 1873.[1]

Robin egg blue in human culture
- Robin egg blue is a traditional color used for a painted underside (ceiling) of a house's exterior porch roof.
- The name "Robin egg blue" has been trademarked by Tiffany & Co.
- In the bandana code of the gay leather subculture, wearing a pale robin egg blue colored bandana means that one is looking for someone with whom to perform 69. (Note: The web site reference says robin egg blue, but in reality, the actual color of the bandana used is pale robin egg blue.)[2]
