Madacy's Rock On 1980 mixes big hits from the year with lesser-known and forgotten ones, and come up with a brief (12 songs) and thematically fuzzy collection. The big hits come from established artists like Blondie ("Call Me"), Dr. Hook ("Sexy Eyes"), Air Supply ("Lost in Love") and the Spinners ("Working My Way Back to You/Forgive Me Girl"), as well as lesser acts like Ambrosia ("Biggest Part of Me") and Christopher Cross ("Ride Like the Wind"). The obscure hits come from both big-name acts, like the Doobie Brothers ("Real Love")and the Little River Band ("Cool Change"), and one-hit wonders like Robbie Dupree ("Steal Away") and Amy Holland ("How Do I Survive"). Overall, the disc plays like a 40-minute block of music on a decent pop radio station. However, it is too short and insubstantial to be considered a necessary purchase.
