Ostensibly about the writing and recording of Lanois' For the Beauty of Wynona, this documentary takes the high road to be a view of the making of Daniel Lanois himself. It's a story about family, tradition, and finding whatever truth is to be found in the way music is made -- whether that means unusual approaches or unusual blends. Lanois is hardly what you'd expect, considering his high-powered reputation as a producer...this is a nice guy who seems to have stayed nice, sane and sober in an industry hardly noted for those qualities. ~ Steven McDonald, Rovi
