Roger was born to famous attorney Steven J Kumble (b. 1933) of Wilton, Connecticut and Barbara Kumble-Ullmann (b. 1933) of New York and married to Mary Christine Mehagian, daughter of Marge and John Mehagian of Phoenix. His father remarried to Peggy Vandervoort and later to Angela Giguere. He has a brother Todd Kumble and a step sister Christine Carrozza (daughter of Angela Giguere and Frederick Carrozza Jr.).
