This Edison one-reeler was based on a story by legendary newspaperman Richard Harding Davis. Hefty Burke, a New York longshoreman, is in love with a waterfront gal. Evidently to prove his worth, Hefty heads to South America to seek his fortune. Here he finds himself in the middle of a banana-republic revolution. Emerging from the fracas as a hero, Hefty returns to New York to claim his bride. At least, that's what the story was probably about; even contemporary reviewers found the film's continuity a bit vague. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
