Saints: Romanus(1)

Romanus (d. 258), Roman doorkeeper and martyr. The untrustworthy Acts of Laurence said he was a soldier converted by this famous martyr. Romanus was buried by the road to Tivoli. Feast: 9 August, in the calendars of Rome, Sarum, and several English monasteries.
