Biography

Born in Paris, Ronney Abramson moved to Montreal as a child; classically trained, she began writing and performing while in her teens. She attended McGill University and became part of the local folk scene. Signed to Capitol Records due to regional success in Eastern Canada and New York, Abramson released a self-titled album in 1972. Ronney Abramson is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in France.

Early life

Ronney Abramson was born in Paris, but in her early childhood moved to Canada and grew up in Montreal. She enrolled at McGill University and completed a classic guitar course.

Musical career

After finishing school, she began performing in the coffee houses of Quebec and Ontario, before recording her first album in 1971 produced by Andre Perry, which was released in 1972 by Capitol Records.

For her second album Stowaway she signed contract with True North Records. This album contained her first hit "Your Love Gets Me Around".

In 1978 she released her third album Jukebox of Paris featuring the song "Trouble" with guest star David Clayton-Thomas of the Blood Sweat & Tears, and hit "Light Up Your Love".[1][2]

Later career and current life

Over the next years Abramson was one of the principals of The Rugrats, a children's music group which recorded the 1983 album Rugrat Rock which won in the Best Children's Album category at the 1984 Juno Awards. Its sequel, The Rugrats Rock On was released in 1985 and featured Fred Mollin.

Since 1986 Abramson is a licenced Real Estate seller and owner of a real estate firm in Toronto, Canada. She isn't currently signed to any recording company.
