Roomrama is the de facto national anthem of the Assyrian people[citation needed]. It was composed by Nebu Juel Issabey and written by Yosip Bet Yosip for the Assyrian Universal Alliance and the Assyrian independence movement. According to the Iraqi constitution (Article 4e-4), the Assyrian language is official in the areas where they are located. The Assyrians are an ethnic group, whose ancestral land lies in northern Iraq, western Iran, north-eastern Syria, and south-eastern Turkey, but are now scattered over many continents.
