Good place to start if you're interested in the more lively, dance-oriented sounds of Cuban music. There's quite a diverse range of performers here, such as Miguel Matamoros, Electo Rosell, and Luis Martinez, to name some of the more recognized artists. And there's similarly quite a diverse range of songs here, some a bit more festive than others. Overall, even if Roots of the Cuban Dance isn't quite as definitive or historical as it claims to be, it's a fine collection that should please the pedestrian listener looking to familiarize him or herself a bit more with the livelier side of Cuban music. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
