Biography

Only 15 when he rapped on his first track, Roscoe was introduced to the rap industry by his brother, Dogg Pound MC and former Death Row associate Kurupt. A native of Philadelphia, Roscoe was ten years old when he flew to California to watch his brother lay down tracks for tha Dogg Pound's debut record. Inspired by what he saw, he soon began to regularly hook up with Kurupt on the road and in the studio, soaking in the West Coast beats while practicing his rapping skills. Debuting on his brother's Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha, producer Daz was impressed by the young MC and helped him put together his first mix tape, 2001's When the Pain Inflict. Drawing favorable reviews from the underground circuit, Roscoe signed with Priority to release his proper debut record, Young Roscoe Philaphornia. With help from seasoned producers Soopafly and Organized Noize, the album was recorded and scheduled for release in 2002 but was pushed back for release until mid-2003. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

David Williams (born 1983), better know by his stage name Roscoe, is a rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Los Angeles, California. He is the younger brother of Kurupt, member of Tha Dogg Pound.

Roscoe had early exposure to hip-hop by going to the studio with Kurupt at the age of 10. A native of Philadelphia, Roscoe flew to California to watch his brother lay down tracks for Tha Dogg Pound's debut record, Dogg Food. Inspired by what he saw, he soon began to regularly hook up with Kurupt on the road and in the studio, soaking in the West Coast beats while practicing his rapping skills. In 1998, Roscoe made his first appearance on the song "Can't Let That Slide", featured on his brother's debut solo album, Kuruption!. In 2001, rapper/producer Daz Dillinger helped Roscoe put together his first mixtape, When the Pain Inflict. Drawing favorable reviews from the underground circuit, Roscoe signed with Priority to release his debut record, "Young Roscoe Philaphornia". With help from a few seasoned producers such as Organized Noize, Soopafly, J. Wells, DJ Quik, Def Jef, Fingazz and L.T. Hutton, the album was recorded and scheduled for release in 2002 but was pushed back for release until mid-2003. "Philaphornia" was a great album, it had the vibe of old school westcoast songs, yet was filled with the young rapper's artistic talents. His singles "Smooth Sailing", "Head to toe", and "Get Ready" all had amazing videos and were strong hits for the streets. He attended Capistrano Valley High School. In 2006, after a 3 year wait, Roscoe dropped his second album "I Luv Cali" after experiencing a near fatal car accident. This album was a second awakening for him. Interested in more than being an artist, Roscoe started his own Rose of Sharon Entertainment company with Kurupt and their mother.Roscoe is a member of his own created group "Y.A." (Youth Authority/Young assassins)
