"Roses Are Red" is a song by Scandinaviandance-pop group Aqua, released as their second single - their first under the name of Aqua, as their debut single had been released under the name of "JOYspeed." The track would also later feature on Aqua's debut album Aquarium.
The single was successful in various European countries, particularly Scandinavia where the single reached number one on the singles chart in Denmark and the top ten in Sweden, Norway and Finland. "Roses Are Red" was never released in the United Kingdom as a single.
The song was inspired by the popular poemRoses are red, which has produced lots of satirical or humorous variations.
The song was also remixed in 2008, along with "Hush" by Yoi, as "Hush the Red Roses" and was prominently featured in the 2009 film Monsters vs Aliens in which Dr.Cockroach uses a Dance mat playing this song in order to activate the ship's self-destruct sequence. The sequence is also a reference to Dance Dance Revolution.
