Ross Newhan is a former columnist for the Long Beach Press-Telegram and the Los Angeles Times before retiring in 2004. He has garnered the 1997 Associated Press Sports Editors Award for his story on the sale of the Dodgers and was given the 2000 J. G. Taylor Spink Award by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
His son, David Newhan, is a Major League Baseball player for the Houston Astros.
